Online marketing can result in the greatest ROI for small business. I firmly believe that the greatest marketing opportunities are on the Web. Not only is it the most inexpensive form of marketing (if you learn it yourself), but it's highly effective. When you take control of your business' online marketing, you'll get plugged into the latest online marketing techniques to try and use for your business.
But perhaps the single best use of small business tools is to be found in the marketing & sales department. This is where it is important to use applications to gather metrics and analyze data. This means using worksheets to evaluate the effectiveness of ad campaigns, and calculating the customer acquisition costs. There are telemarketing tools that can push sales off the charts and on track to becoming a not-so-small one.
No matter how much you and your office manager love to play with your computers, you will save a great deal of time and money, and you will get far better results from downloading templates instead of creating your own.
There are a number of various websites on the net that provide invoice templates. Many of these are provided in a turnkey format, which allow you to download them immediately and begin using them with little or no customization whatsoever. These templates are typically provided in either Microsoft Word format or a PDF, which can be difficult to edit unless you have the supporting software. However, a good quality invoice template may be hard to find, especially one that performs calculations and processes needed data. This is where you need to be mindful of the purpose of the document. There's no point downloading one that is provided in a basic text only format, if you require something more elaborate that can accommodate functions such as calculations and tax equations. This is where an excel spreadsheet with built in functions may be more suitable.
Website templates look great. A lot of work goes into designing a great website. When you buy a template, you get a great looking design for a fraction of the real cost of designing the website. Moreover, you can shop around until you find the perfect looking template. Chances are you're not sure what kinds of designs are available and what type of design you want for your website. Shopping and researching templates gives you an idea to hone the vision and design you want for your website(s).
You can go about it one of two ways. Find a template platform you like (i.e. for WordPress: Genesis, Builder, Thesis, etc. or HTML templates and know you'll be revising the design a fair amount). Or, look for a website template that is as close to what you're looking for as possible to minimize the amount of customization work. Moreover, if you decide to install and set up the template yourself, you can be your own webmaster. That's what I do for my small business. I have a huge advantage because I can make changes and add content any time I like. I don't have to send instructions to and then review the work of a webmaster.
